PGDS believes a child learns best through experience. There is no right or wrong way to do an activity. Our teachers demonstrate and then the child is free to copy the example or create a new and unique outcome.
Our classrooms are set up for a traditional style of learning, where children are being educated while they are having fun. We provide a sound, safe and secure environment that will enable the child to develop both educational and social skills, promote self-concept, and encourage a sense of responsibility and an increasing sense of independence.
We are a non-denominational Christian school. This involves fun, kid-friendly bible stories, monthly outreach programs to help others in need, reinforcing moral values and celebrating Christmas and Easter through joyful and age-appropriate activities.
We are a school that builds pride and respect for a great nation.
Our Teachers
Our teachers have four year degrees in Early Childhood Education or the equivalent. Our teaching team is a close-knit collection of warm and loving people. They are here because they have a deep passion for teaching and they want to make a difference in the lives of young children.
PGDS History
Potomac Glen Day School, originally Potomac Child Care Center, was established in September 1992 by Angela Tranquill. In March of ‘94, PGDS was certified by the Maryland State Department of Education as a non-public school. PGDS is located in the Parish House of the Potomac United Methodist Church at the intersection of Falls road and South Glen.
Potomac Glen Day School began as a one-classroom school filled with 7 three and four year olds. Eight classrooms and 130 + students later, Potomac Glen Day School is wonderful success! The majority of our parents (about 95%) come to us by word of mouth. Although academics are a high priority, its charm comes from the warm community based atmosphere.
